Natural Tooth Colored Fillings
Fillings restore your teeth from decay, or cavities often discovered during your routine oral exam. Fillings keep your teeth strong and can even prevent further decay. At Weekend Dentistry, we want you to feel confident about your fillings. We’ll discuss the best option for your smile based on the extent of repair, location of the fillings, and cost.
What to Expect During Your Filling
Once our doctors have determined a filling is necessary and you’ve chosen the perfect type of filling for your smile, we can schedule your restoration.
During your appointment, we will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area around your afflicted tooth to keep you comfortable. Then, we’ll remove any decay and shape the space in your tooth to accommodate your filling. Some types of fillings will require etching to properly bond the filling, and in the case of a resin filling, our doctors will harden the material with a bright light. Once your filling is in place, we’ll finish and polish your tooth, so it fits seamlessly into the rest of your smile.
After Your Filling
There are a few side effects to look out for after your filling such as tingling at the injections site and sensitivity to cold air or liquids and sweet food. These should subside fairly quickly, with a few hours after your procedure.
