Steps To Take If You Notice A Broken Veneer
Posted on 5/20/2019 by office
It happens to the best of us. You are standing in front of your mirror, admiring your beautiful veneers when suddenly, you notice a crack in one of them. You are horrified. What do you do? After you have a cry (and we would not blame you) you need to take some steps to help your veneer. Here are some steps you need to take if you notice that a broken veneer. Veneers Are DelicateVeneers are porcelain shells that are glued onto your natural teeth. Often, veneers are used to cover cracked or chipped teeth. They may also be used to cover teeth that have been discolored due to staining with caffeine or tobacco. Sometimes, teeth get stained through the use of certain kinds of medication as well. Depending on the type of veneer you have (porcelain or the newer composite veneers), your veneers can be repaired. First, however, you need to take steps to minimize the impact of a broken veneer. Be sure that you are not cracking or breaking it further with chewing. Chew on the opposite site of the veneer so as not to make the crack or break larger. If you have porcelain veneers, depending on how large the break is, you will most likely need to have it replaced. If you have the newer veneers, made of composite, they can be repaired with a trip to our office. No matter which kind of veneers you have, you will need to have us look at them to determine what can be done. If you have questions about your veneers, or you want to talk with someone about your oral health, why not give us a call? We would love to talk with you about repairing your veneers, or anything that has to do with your dental care....

How Does Orange Lipstick Give Your Smile a Yellow Appearance?
Posted on 5/10/2019 by office
Lipstick is something that so many wear. It can help you smile wider and feel prettier. However, is the lipstick shade that you choose making your teeth appear yellower than they should? This is a common question that many wearing lipstick ask. You don't want to choose a shade that is going to cause your smile to dim down. You want a shade that is actually going to make your teeth appear brighter and whiter than they are. The Hues in Lipstick Bring Out the Color in Your TeethThe hues in lipstick are what causes the hues in your teeth to either stand out in a good way or a bad way. Those colors that have a yellow undertone to them, such as orange, yellows, pinks, corals and frosty colored pinks can all bring out the yellow in the teeth, making them appear even more yellow than they are, even. The colors that have blue hues to them, such as blue-based reds, violets, dark plums and hot pinks are going to make the white in your teeth really stand out. This makes your smile brighter and whiter without having to whiten, just by choosing the right shade of lip color to go with. Another great thing to remember is that if you choose a lipstick, adding a gloss over it can actually help your teeth appear whiter without whitening them. This is because the reflection of the light off of the gloss gives them a whiter appearance when you smile. Add in some darker plum colored lipstick and you have a great look without worrying about yellowing in your teeth. Whitening procedures can be done if you cannot let go of that orange lipstick, though. If you want whiter teeth when you smile, give our office a call. We can help you whiten and brighten with the best procedure....
